Litigation Paralegal - Personal Injury
Schwimer Weinstein LLP is a boutique litigation firm based in Venice, just 1 block North of the infamous Venice sign, with a reputation and track record of results. We are looking for a full-time Litigation Paralegal to provide litigation and trial preparation support. A Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of litigation experience is desired. Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain Litigation Calendar and docket management
· Prepare correspondence, legal documents, forms, presentations
· Assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and request for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders) and motions (preparation of any supporting documents and exhibits, and preparing hearing binders)
· Assist with other trial preparation including coordination of witnesses and travel
· Prepare and e-file pleadings and motion/responses, discovery (incoming and outbound) and all corresponding calendaring
· Maintain document production database utilizing Clio; run searches, maintain setup through trial, push productions, etc.
· Schedule appointments, coordinate client meetings and manage calendars
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree is desired
· Minimum 5 years of litigation experience as a Paralegal. Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program (preferred)
· Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
· Punctual and resourceful
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Meticulous organization skills, high attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to work independently and efficiently prioritize workflow
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and deadlines
· Show a strong sense of ownership and integrity when reading, prioritizing, routing and following up on client communications
· Ability to effectively work in a team-structured environment
· In-depth knowledge of electronic research technology (Westlaw) is necessary
· Working knowledge of Civil Litigation Calendaring rules and procedures
· Ability to e-file documents in state and federal courts
· Demonstrated ability to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF and JPG formats
· Proficient in the Office Software Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
