Server Assistant (Fine Dining) — One by Spork

Compensation: $14.00/hour + tips
Position Summary
One by Spork is an intimate, chef's-counter tasting menu restaurant in Pittsburgh. Each evening we host a single seating of 18 guests, Thursday through Sunday, for a ten-course tasting menu paired with a curated beverage program — with occasional private events Monday through Wednesday. Every detail of the evening is intentional, from pacing to plate resets, because guests are seated close enough to notice all of it.
As a Server Assistant, you're a quiet, essential part of that experience. You work closely with the service team to keep the counter clean, unhurried, and exactly where it needs to be — without ever pulling focus from the food, the story, or the guest in front of you. The ideal candidate is composed under close proximity, genuinely attentive, and comfortable working in a room with nowhere to hide.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the service team to keep the evening moving smoothly, calmly, and on pace
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas, including restrooms and lounge area
- Reset the tasting counter between courses — efficiently, quietly, and without disrupting the room
- Refill water and clear flatware, glassware, and plates without interrupting service flow or conversation at the counter
- Assist in delivering food and beverage items in coordination with the kitchen and server team
- Maintain working knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation, and allergen awareness
- Handle and polish glassware with precision and care
- Uphold the discretion, timing, and etiquette a counter-format dining room demands
- Communicate clearly and quietly with the team to keep service coordinated
- Restock and fold linens and warm towels, polish glassware, and reset for upcoming service
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean, sanitary work environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a high-end or fine dining restaurant preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and comfort working in close proximity to guests throughout service
- Professional, composed demeanor and polished appearance
- Team-oriented, low-ego, and eager to learn
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Flexible schedule — evenings, weekends, and holidays required
