Schedule: Full-time | Exempt
Reports to: Human Resources Business Partner
Travel: Frequent travel to company locations is required
Chaney Enterprises is looking for an approachable, organized, and solutions-focused HR Generalist to provide frontline HR support across our operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, building relationships with employees and managers, and helping resolve day-to-day workplace concerns.
You will report to an HR Business Partner and serve as a visible HR presence at assigned locations. Rather than supporting employees primarily from behind a desk, you will regularly visit sites, learn how each operation works, and provide practical HR guidance where it is needed most.
-
Travel regularly to assigned sites to provide accessible, in-person HR support to employees and managers.
-
Build trusted relationships with employees, supervisors, and operational leaders.
-
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, workplace concerns, HR policies, benefits, attendance, and other employment-related matters.
-
Help managers address routine employee relations and performance concerns, escalating complex or higher-risk matters to the HR Business Partner.
-
Conduct initial fact-finding conversations and support workplace investigations under the direction of the HR Business Partner.
-
Assist managers with coaching conversations, performance documentation, corrective action, and consistent application of company policies.
-
Support onboarding activities and help new employees successfully transition into the organization.
-
Guide employees and managers through FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, and other leave-related processes in partnership with the appropriate HR team members.
-
Prepare employee communications, letters, forms, and other HR documentation.
-
Accurately enter and maintain employee information in the HRIS and conduct routine record reviews.
-
Support offboarding, exit interviews, and other employment-transition activities.
-
Participate in HR training, employee meetings, engagement activities, and company initiatives.
-
Identify recurring employee or operational concerns and communicate them to the HR Business Partner.
-
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and sound judgment.
In this role, success means:
-
Employees know who you are and feel comfortable coming to you with questions or concerns.
-
Managers receive timely, practical guidance and understand when to involve HR.
-
Assigned sites receive consistent and dependable HR support.
-
Employee concerns are documented, communicated, and addressed promptly.
-
HR records and documentation are accurate and complete.
-
You follow through on commitments and keep employees, managers, and the HR Business Partner informed.
-
You balance employee support with consistent application of company expectations.
-
Two or more years of Human Resources experience, preferably in an employee-facing Generalist or HR support role.
-
Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy administration, or leave processes.
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility with both frontline employees and operational leaders.
-
A willingness to spend significant time traveling to and working at company sites.
-
The confidence to handle routine HR concerns independently while recognizing when an issue should be escalated.
-
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
-
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment requirements.
-
Experience using an HRIS and Microsoft Office applications.
-
The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
-
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular site travel.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Experience supporting employees in a construction, manufacturing, transportation, field-services, or other operational environment.
-
PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
-
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Our employees do their work across multiple locations, so effective HR support must extend beyond the corporate office. As an HR Generalist, you will help ensure employees feel heard, managers have the support they need, and workplace concerns are addressed fairly and consistently.
If you enjoy working directly with people, solving practical problems, and being an active presence in the business, we would like to hear from you.
