As a Rest Area Supervisor with Community Support Systems, you’ll lead a small team of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, teaching practical job skills while maintaining high standards at multiple nearby rest area locations. This is hands-on work that blends cleaning, outdoor maintenance, equipment operation, and genuine people development—all in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
- Keep restrooms, floors, lobbies, sidewalks, windows, and grounds clean and well-maintained to IDOT contract standards
- Train, guide, and supervise 1–3 individuals served, helping them build work habits, skills, and confidence
- Operate equipment such as blowers and floor buffers
- Drive a CSS vehicle between nearby rest area sides and transport team members and supplies
- Provide friendly customer service to the traveling public
- Maintain a safe work environment and complete required records
Schedule
Full-time (40 hours/week). Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Current openings:
- Mornings: 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Afternoons: 1:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Illinois driver’s license (and ability to drive a 15-passenger van)
- Ability to frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50–100 lbs
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather and with minimal supervision
- Sensitivity and patience when working with individuals with disabilities
