About Legacy Housing
Legacy Housing Corporation (NASDAQ: LEGH) is one of the largest producers of manufactured homes in the United States, building, selling, and financing quality affordable housing. We are a profitable, growing public company headquartered in Bedford, Texas.
The Opportunity
We are modernizing our finance function and strengthening internal control over financial reporting (ICFR), including remediation of previously disclosed material weaknesses and a concurrent migration from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (go-live targeted January 1, 2027). We are seeking a hands-on SOX/ICFR leader to drive management’s remediation of these material weaknesses to closure and to build a durable, well-documented control environment.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility permanent role working directly with the CFO, the Controller, and the external auditors. You will bring the depth of SOX experience needed to design, document, and test controls at pace, and to mentor a capable, early-career accounting team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead design and documentation of a COSO 2013–based control framework: process narratives, risk & control matrices (RCMs), and a segregation-of-duties matrix aligned to the new Business Central role structure.
- Drive remediation of open control deficiencies to closure, coordinating owners across the revenue, inventory, purchasing, cash, fixed assets, loan portfolio, payroll, tax, and financial-close cycles.
- Build and execute a risk-based management testing program to establish operating effectiveness ahead of the external auditor’s testing.
- Partner with IT and the implementation team on IT general controls (ITGC): access provisioning/reviews, change management, and SOC report review, embedded in the Business Central rollout.
- Support quarterly Audit Committee reporting and management’s annual ICFR self-assessment.
- Serve as a day-to-day liaison to the external audit firm on remediation scope, evidence, and timing.
- Coach and upskill early-career staff and analysts on controls, evidence standards, and testing methodology.
What You’ll Bring (Required)
- 6+ years of accounting/audit experience, including Big Four or national public accounting, with meaningful SOX 404 / ICFR work.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience designing and testing internal controls — RCMs, segregation-of-duties analysis, and operating-effectiveness testing under the COSO 2013 framework.
- Direct experience remediating material weaknesses or significant deficiencies, ideally in a public-company (SEC/accelerated filer) environment.
- Working knowledge of IT general controls and their role in ICFR.
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to move quickly against firm deadlines while producing audit-ready documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfort working directly with senior leadership and external auditors.
Preferred
- CPA (active or eligible).
- Experience with ERP implementations and application/automated controls — Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong plus.
- Industry background in both manufacturing/inventory and consumer/dealer lending.
