We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement, inventory control, logistics, and supplier management operations for our growing organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchasing of products for resale, warehouse packaging materials, and office/warehouse maintenance and service needs.
The Purchasing Manager will lead sourcing initiatives, vendor negotiations, inventory planning, import logistics, and warehouse coordination while driving process improvements across the supply chain. The ideal candidate is a strong negotiator, highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Place purchase orders based on system-generated purchase requisitions, inventory levels, forecasts, and manual demand requirements.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supplier agreements to achieve favorable business outcomes.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct annual supplier evaluations, and maintain vendor scorecards.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, pricing, shortages, and delivery delays.
- Submit supplier complaints and coordinate returns for vendor credits.
- Send follow-up notices and maintain ongoing communication regarding purchase orders and delivery schedules.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Manage inventory levels through reorder point planning, forecasting, safety stock analysis, and inventory turn optimization.
- Lead inventory cycle counts and year-end physical inventory processes in coordination with warehouse management.
- Identify non-moving or excess inventory and implement corrective action plans.
- Coordinate procurement, inventory, and shipping needs with accounting, sales, warehouse, and product management teams.
- Attend internal planning and product meetings to support demand forecasting and new product requirements.
Logistics & Warehouse Operations
- Develop logistics strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation and distribution of goods.
- Manage imports and coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery and compliance with import procedures.
- Oversee incoming and outgoing freight activities to ensure proper routing, documentation, and shipping compliance.
- Support day-to-day warehouse operations by ensuring effective processes and workflow controls are in place.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations.
Reporting & Administrative Functions
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing, inventory, and logistics activities.
- Track deliveries and update expected delivery timelines within purchase orders.
- Review deliveries against purchase orders and assist with invoice verification and resolution.
- Partner with the accounting department to resolve Accounts Payable invoice discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual procurement forecasts, reports, and KPI summaries.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, approval procedures, and standard operating processes.
Leadership
- Manage and mentor purchasing and logistics personnel by providing training, guidance, and performance support.
- Promote strong communication and collaboration across departments and supplier networks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Prior experience in a lead purchasing or purchasing management role required.
- Experience with SAP ERP software required; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, safety stock, lead time reduction, and procurement best practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, smart worksheets, and data analysis.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reporting.
- Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and supplier relationships.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
