Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Cake Decorator to join our vibrant bakery team! In this role, you will support our lead cake decorator by decorating cookies, cupcakes, pastries and cakes for our retail case. You will also assist with customer communication, taking phone orders and answering email inquiries.
Duties
- Decorate and finish cakes and pastries
- Prepare various icings and whipped cream
- Package finished products carefully to maintain quality during storage and delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with food safety standards
- Help with inventory management by monitoring supplies like icing, fondant, decorations, and packaging materials
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about products and assisting with special orders when needed
Skills
- Strong cake decorating skills including piping and base icing, fondant experience a plus
- Experience in food production, baking, or pastry arts is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food handling, safety procedures, and kitchen sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume production environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with packaging techniques to ensure product freshness and presentation quality
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and interact positively with customers
- Enthusiasm for learning
This position will begin as a part time job, but may expand into full time as our cake department grows.
Schedule to start:
Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays approximately 7:30am-12pm
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
