Job Description:
A family in Yorktown Heights is seeking a dependable and compassionate Community Habilitation (ComHab) provider to support a 39-year-old woman diagnosed with autism who is non-verbal. The role focuses on helping her access and enjoy community-based activities while promoting independence and overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Support the individual in participating in community outings (e.g., parks, local events, errands, recreational activities)
- Encourage engagement, exploration, and skill-building
- Ensure safety and supervision at all times
- Assist with developing daily living and social skills
- Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress and activities
Schedule:
- Mondays: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Fridays: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Additional flexible hours available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
- Schedule can be flexible and may be split between one or two providers
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong communication, patience, and reliability
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle required
- Comfortable supporting a non-verbal individual in community settings
Compensation:
$34/hour - Paid through Fiscal Intermediary
