TAILORED SERVICES SPECIALIST – JOB DESCRIPTION
Groundwork Tailored Services is a growing organization based in Westchester, CA. We provide tailored employment & education support services to individuals who are neurodiverse. We consider most of the people we work with to be friends and run a very close-knit team. The primary requirement is you have a good heart, patience, and a desire to help others. Most everything else is teachable.
As a Tailored Services Specialist you will be supporting individuals with:
- Discovering a persons' interests, skills, and educational/employment goals, developing action plans, and working with the person regularly to execute on the action plans and achieve those goals
- Career Development: career exploration, resume building, interview practice, building employability skills, navigating the job search, and conducting in-person, email and phone outreach to employers.
- Post-Secondary Education Support: Collaborating with participant to identify appropriate career paths, schools and majors, assisting with enrollment in courses, accessing student services/tutors/campus life, developing core organizational skills to help them complete their coursework.
- In-class notetaking with individuals who request this support to ensure students are understanding key concepts introduced in class
- Onsite job support / job coaching with some individuals to help maintain employment and meet productivity goals
- Regularly travel to various sites in the community (West LA College, Santa Monica College, El Camino College, jobsites, etc) to meet with individuals
- Fostering an atmosphere of honesty, integrity, accountability and motivation
- Wearing multiple hats to assist our people (tailored services specialist, job coach, mentor, friend, life coach)
- Above all, developing and fostering a positive, professional, and friendly relationship with individuals and teaching them how to develop positive relationships
- Some Administrative Responsibilities
Schedule:
- Full-Time Candidates preferred
- Part-time positions available
- Work is primarily in-person, though some meetings are virtual.
- Schedule is generally Mon - Fri during daytime hours, but may include evenings & weekends depending on participant’s employment & education needs / schedule
- Most work locations are in the Westside of Los Angeles area, but opportunities available at CSUN (Northridge).
- Need exists for San Fernando valley based candidate seeking part-time hours who have flexible availability to notetake for a student during school semesters at CSUN.
Qualifications
- Primary & Unwavering Qualification is a Good Heart and a desire to make a difference in your community
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus, but not required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree are preferred.
- Experience working with the neurodiverse community is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to undergo a background screening & CA DMV report
- Ability to speak and write in English in a professional manner.
- Casual business dress.
- Must complete and pass required Tailored Services paid training and staff orientation before beginning work and on an annual basis.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
