Job Title: Music Program Coordinator
Position Summary
The Music Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the Worship and Performing Arts music programs at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center Guayama. This position provides music instruction, coordinates program activities and performances, manages related resources, and supports music ministry initiatives in alignment with The Salvation Army’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
DUTIES/RESPONSABILITIES
1. Music Program Management
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive music education programs that support The Salvation Army's Worship and Performing Arts Ministry.
- Coordinate music classes, rehearsals, performances, workshops, and seasonal activities for participants of various ages and skill levels.
- Develop annual program goals, schedules, and instructional plans that promote participant engagement and musical excellence.
- Expand community participation through innovative music programming and outreach initiatives.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance participant experience and ministry impact.
2. Music Instruction & Student Development
- Provide instruction in brass, vocal music, piano, and other musical disciplines based on program needs and participant abilities.
- Assess participant progress and provide individualized guidance to encourage musical development.
- Foster creativity, teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence through music education.
- Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, personal growth, and respect among students.
- Organize daily devotional opportunities that promote Christian values and spiritual development within the music program
3. Worship & Performing Arts Support
- Support worship services through musical leadership, accompaniment, rehearsals, and performances as assigned.
- Coordinate participant involvement in worship services, concerts, community events, and Salvation Army music activities.
- Encourage participation in Divisional and Territorial music programs and special events.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of music ministry initiatives that strengthen community engagement and spiritual outreach.
- Collaborate with Corps Officers and ministry leadership to support worship and special ministry events.
4. Community Outreach & Special Events
- Coordinate music performances that increase public awareness of The Salvation Army and the Kroc Center.
- Develop partnerships with schools, community organizations, churches, and other stakeholders to promote music education opportunities.
- Represent the Kroc Center professionally during community events and outreach activities.
- Support recruitment efforts to increase participation in music programs throughout the community.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in music, Music Education, Education, or a related field, with demonstrated ability to teach music to individuals of various ages and skill levels.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in music education, program coordination, worship arts, or a related field.
- Ability to read music and provide instruction in various areas of music, including brass, vocal, piano, and general music.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding and appreciation of The Salvation Army’s mission, values, and ministry approach.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, program participants, parents/guardians, volunteers, and community members.
- Commitment to maintaining excellence in Worship and Performing Arts programming.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, preferred.
- Previous experience as a Corps Music Leader, Bandmaster, Songster Leader, or Salvation Army musician preferred.
- Active participation as a Salvationist musician and willingness to support the ministry of the Kroc Corps preferred.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site position with variable weekly hours based on scheduled activities and events.
- Requires flexibility for mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional split-shift schedules.
- Frequent movement throughout indoor and outdoor event areas.
- Requires standing for extended periods and handling technical equipment.
- Must meet Child Protection and background clearance requirements under Puerto Rico Law 300.
- The Kroc Center campus is a drug-, alcohol-, tobacco-, and weapon-free environment.
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
