Job Summary
Join our team as a Feed Truck Driver and take charge of delivering Bulk Feed efficiently and safely across various routes to local farms. This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate a range of commercial vehicles, including Tandem Feed trucks and occasionally Semi Grain Hoppers. You will be responsible for transporting Livestock Feed over local counties, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Weekly hours average around 50 hours. Your expertise in ingredient handling, route driving, and vehicle operation will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of service. Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks including Tandem Feed trucks and on occasion tractor-trailers.
- Load and unload livestock feed using manual handling techniques, equipment on Tandem Feed trucks as well as forklifts when necessary.
- Navigate routes using GPS to ensure timely deliveries across designated territories.
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) rules
- Manage truck loading and unloading processes efficiently while maintaining Feed integrity and safety standards.
- Deliver Livestock Feed accurately to customer locations, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to delivery schedules.
- Maintain vehicle safety by conducting routine inspections, reporting issues promptly, and adhering to truck maintenance protocols.
- Follow all safety procedures related to ingredients handling, including proper load securing and documentation.
- Record delivery details accurately in logs and reports; communicate effectively with the Manager regarding route updates or issues.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery driving.
- Hands-on experience with Semis or Tandem Feed trucks is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and tractor-trailer operations.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, and DOT compliance standards.
- Experience with logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading procedures, and freight management.
- Prior experience operating forklifts or roll-off trucks is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning and execution.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements.
