Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Construction Project Manager to oversee the construction and deployment of fiber-based telecommunications networks serving Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), Small Business (SMB) customers, and other complex properties requiring unique right-of-way solutions throughout the Vista and San Marcos, California area.
This role will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, vendor performance, and overall project execution while collaborating closely with estimating, design, engineering, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage fiber network deployment projects from planning through final acceptance and operational handoff.
- Maintain accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Develop reporting metrics and provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Lead deployment activities including network architecture coordination, construction methodologies, material selection, acquisition, field installation, testing, and project acceptance.
- Review and manage both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) construction plans.
- Coordinate engineering firms, construction contractors, utility providers, permitting agencies, municipalities, and rights-of-way stakeholders.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure contractor performance aligns with project goals.
- Promote and enforce health and safety standards for all project participants, vendors, and suppliers.
- Build cross-functional partnerships and establish accountability across project teams.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect timelines and budgets.
- Ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Oversee material procurement and resource planning activities.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training, certifications, and relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of telecom engineering and construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting MDU and SMB fiber deployment projects.
- Strong knowledge of ISP and OSP design and construction practices.
- Experience managing multiple vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Ability to manage project schedules, financial performance, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Experience with telecommunications design and project management platforms such as Visio, Vetro, GIS applications, Sitetracker, and financial/project management software.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
- Eligibility to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing large-scale fiber deployments in MDU and SMB environments.
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience coordinating permitting, right-of-way, and utility stakeholders.
Work Environment / Additional Information
- Local travel throughout the Vista and San Marcos region is expected.
- Personal vehicle required.
- Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with company policy.
- Field and office work environment supporting active construction projects.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay rate range: $40.00 to $48.00, DOE
