General Service Technician
Reports to: Service Writer(s); Manager/Service WriterHours: Full-time Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Purpose & Objective
The General Service Technician position is ideal for an individual with experience in general automotive service who is eager to expand their skills and grow within the industry. This role plays a vital part in our shop’s operations by performing routine maintenance and minor repairs, including oil changes, filter replacements, battery services, bulb replacements, fluid flushes, tire services, and brake maintenance. The technician is also responsible for conducting comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential concerns and ensure customer safety.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Service & Repair
- Perform assigned maintenance services and minor repairs with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Complete work as directed by Service Advisors and/or Shop Management.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Routine Maintenance
- Perform tire-related services, including mounting, balancing, repairs, and rotations.
- Complete fluid services, including oil changes and transmission, coolant, and brake fluid exchanges and flushes.
- Conduct battery testing, removal, and installation.
- Perform multi-point vehicle inspections and identify maintenance or repair needs.
Communication & Teamwork
- Clearly communicate inspection findings, quality concerns, and service recommendations to management.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain quality standards and operational procedures.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
- Basic knowledge of passenger vehicles, including the ability to identify components within the engine compartment and undercarriage.
- Experience performing oil changes, fluid exchanges, flushes, brakes, tire repairs and rotations, balancing, battery replacements, and multi-point inspections.
- Experience with front-end suspension work and wheel alignments is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English using both digital and paper-based systems.
- Basic math and counting skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the shop.
- Ability to perform both fine and gross motor tasks while using automotive tools and equipment.
- Ability to carry out shop maintenance duties, including sweeping, operating floor-cleaning equipment, and other physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and adapt to varying weather conditions.
Additional Requirements
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Must be insurable under the company’s insurance policy.
- Ability to safely operate customer and company vehicles, including transporting passengers when necessary.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
