The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading and integrating all site technical services activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Orange, Texas manufacturing facility. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for Maintenance, Reliability, Inspection, Capital Projects, Turnarounds, and Process Control & Automation functions. The position is accountable for sustaining asset integrity, improving equipment reliability, supporting production performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Syensqo operational and safety standards.
The role leads a multidisciplinary organization of more than 15 employees and contractors and manages an annual operating and capital budget estimated between 5 million USD and 8 million USD. The Technical Services Manager serves as a key member of the site leadership team and partners closely with Operations, HSE, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality and Global Business Unit stakeholders.
Safety Leadership and Compliance: Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible leadership, process safety discipline, risk management, and compliance with Syensqo HSE standards, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and Syensqo Responsible Care principles.
Maintenance and Reliability Management: Lead the maintenance and reliability strategy for batch chemical manufacturing assets, ensuring sustainable asset performance, reduced downtime, and improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Maintenance Transformation: Drive maintenance transformation initiatives focused on work process optimization, preventive and predictive maintenance effectiveness, planning and scheduling excellence, and SAP PM utilization improvements.
Asset Integrity and Inspection: Ensure robust mechanical integrity and inspection programs are implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Cost Optimization: Develop and manage departmental budgets while identifying opportunities to optimize maintenance spending, improve contractor effectiveness, and reduce lifecycle asset costs.
Capital Projects Management: Oversee execution of site capital projects from concept development through commissioning, ensuring projects meet safety, cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
Turnaround Leadership: Lead turnaround preparation and execution activities to minimize operational disruptions and improve maintenance productivity and asset availability.
Automation and Process Control: Provide leadership for process control and automation systems to improve process stability, production efficiency, cybersecurity awareness, and operational reliability.
Continuous Improvement: Implement reliability-centered maintenance practices, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), FMEA/FMECA methodologies, and Lean/Six Sigma tools to improve operational performance.
Leadership and Talent Development: Lead, coach, and develop technical teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, technical capability growth, and succession planning.
Ensure compliance with all HSE, process safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Drive maintenance excellence and reliability performance improvement initiatives.
Manage maintenance and capital expenditures within approved budget targets.
Support production capability, operational continuity, and manufacturing efficiency.
Lead turnaround and shutdown activities with strong safety and execution performance.
Develop organizational capability and technical competency within the technical services organization.
Promote a culture of operational discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 10 years of progressive industrial experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or technical services leadership within chemical manufacturing or specialty materials industries.
Knowledge of mechanical integrity, reliability engineering, maintenance systems, and asset management.
Experience managing capital projects and plant turnaround activities.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical organizations and contractors.
Strong understanding of process safety management and industrial regulatory requirements.
Experience with SAP PM or equivalent maintenance management systems.
Professional certifications aligned with industry standards are considered an advantage
