Position Summary
This position assists the surgery center staff with activities intended to maintain an efficient and effective patient flow. The X-Ray Technician is responsible for patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed health care provider.
Education & Licensing
- High school diploma or
- Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
- Current certificate of license with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
- Certification/Licensure: CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
X-Ray Technician Functions
- Ensure that all equipment follows state regulations, maintained, and documented, in good working order and clean
- Use radiation protection and shielding materials when required.
- Maintain and monitor radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients, staff, and compliance with government regulatory requirements including rotating radiation badges.
- Perform a variety of x-ray procedures directed by a licensed healthcare provider such as positioning patients, taking radiographs, and applying correct techniques.
- Obtains quality diagnostic radiographic images as requested by licensed healthcare providers. (As quickly as exam/patient condition will allow).
- Reviews for quality and accuracy of x-ray images.
- Liaison between patients, physicians, and medical support staff. Demonstrating a caring and professional manner to make patients feel comfortable.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations according to the Surgery Center guidelines.
- Assist patients with wheelchairs as needed.
- Order and maintain proper inventory of radiologic supplies.
- Work as a team member within the ORs and all other Surgery Center departments.
- Document work processes as required by Surgery Center.
- Assist Ortho Techs as needed with removal of splints and braces.
- Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, records requests.
- Adhere to employer work practices as described in Employee Handbook.
- Always maintain professional appearance and personal conduct.
