Job Title: Sample Lab Technician Level 1
Compensation: $45,000 - $65,000 (based on qualifications)
Position Summary
This position is responsible for testing, validating, and recommending specific printing systems for a wide variety of customer products and substrate material, providing representative samples to the sales team or the end user(s). The sample process involves printing with our coding and marking printers, on customer product substrates, with frequent communication to and from the Sales team in support of this process. In addition to the sample process, the technician will assist with administrative functions such as the check-in and validation of sample requests, various reporting of sample completion, sample trends, forecasting, and communication of samples status to the Sales team.

Main Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Prepare high quality: laser, ink, ribbon, and vision samples that meet all required application specifications, in a timely manner
- Document and catalogue sample parameters and other relevant data via Sample Lab Database (Salesforce)
- Verify content and quality of all machine-readable codes (linear barcodes, Data Matrix codes, etc.)
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers with regard to samples
- Maintain Sample Lab equipment and working environment in good working order and per safety requirements
- Establish and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Domino technologies and related products
- Clearly and accurately describe results of each individual sample completed relative to requested specifications
- Displays creative problem solving to advise sample and application improvements and solutions
- Provide any sample-related basic technical and commercial training to new Account Managers, that will add value to their sample submissions
- Receive sample substrates from the Shipping Department and transport them to the Sample Lab for sample validation
- Communicate with the individual Account Managers upon the arrival of substrate
- Verify content of requests and communicate with the Account Managers, any inaccuracies that may be keeping them from being sampled
- When necessary, virtually meet with the Account Manager and possibly customers, to ensure all sample requirements are clear, understood, and concise to enable successful validation and completion to the customers’ production requirements with our products

What You Need
Education & Experience
- Associate degree preferred; or 2 years in job related technical experience
- Preferred understanding of the fundamentals of coding and marking printing, such as scribing lasers, inkjet technology, chemical safety, and substrate response
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Able to work with different levels of employees/customers
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and especially Excel)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and seek help when necessary
Physical Demands
- Light work. Light work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force constantly to move objects. Pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, gross/fine manipulation, driving, kneeling, crawling, and climbing may be required. Physical demand requirements are more than those for Sedentary Work.
