A Gas Station Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing sales transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. A bilingual cashier (for example, fluent in English and Spanish) helps communicate with a wider range of customers, answers questions clearly, and improves the overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Operate the cash register and accurately process cash, credit card, and mobile payments.
- Scan merchandise and handle fuel purchases.
- Assist customers in both English and a second language.
- Answer questions about products, prices, promotions, and store policies.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays with merchandise.
- Monitor inventory and report low-stock items to management.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store, counters, and restrooms.
- Verify identification for age-restricted products such as tobacco.
- Follow safety and security procedures, including handling cash and reporting suspicious activity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous cashier or retail experience is a plus.
- Ability to speak and understand English and another language fluently.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
