We’re Hiring: Removal Defense Paralegal
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
What You’ll Do:
Removal Defense Case Support: Directly support attorneys on immigration and removal defense matters through legal research, case preparation, and strategic analysis.
Team Oversight & Mentorship: Oversee and guide legal assistants by coordinating workloads, delegating tasks, and supporting professional development.
Case Review & Quality Control: Review and analyze case files, legal documents, and reports prepared by legal assistants to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to attorney review.
Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive legal research and apply immigration laws, rulings, and regulations to support case strategy and preparation.
Legal Drafting & Advocacy: Draft, revise, and prepare declarations, motions, and other legal documents, presenting clear and persuasive legal arguments.
Client & Agency Communication: Serve as a liaison with clients, USCIS, and other immigration agencies to ensure timely, clear, and effective communication.
Records & Evidence Management: Proactively obtain records and information from external organizations and agencies while maintaining accurate, up-to-date databases and tracking systems.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare clear, concise, and well-organized legal reports that summarize findings and case status.
Responsiveness & Reliability: Maintain consistent availability and respond promptly to case-related inquiries from legal assistants and other departments.
Team Collaboration: Perform additional duties as needed to support the overall success and efficiency of the legal team.
What You Bring:
Bilingual (English & Spanish) – required
Preferred 4+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal (equivalent experience considered)
Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Paralegal Certificate preferred)
Experience in Immigration Law or Litigation strongly preferred
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to supervise and motivate a team
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion
