Job Description: ESL InstructorPosition Title: ESL InstructorOrganization: York Adult EducationLocation: York, MainePosition Overview: York Adult Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate ESL (English as a Second Language) Instructor to join our team. This position is part-time, scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, over a 30-week academic year.Responsibilities: Plan and deliver effective ESL lessons that cater to a diverse group of adult learners.Create engaging and interactive learning experiences to promote language acquisition and proficiency.Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic performance.Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support program goals and initiatives.Provide timely feedback to students and support their individual learning needs.Utilize technology effectively for instructional delivery, including the ability to facilitate blended in-person/live online classes.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, ESL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).ESL teaching certification (e.g., TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) highly desirable.Proven experience in teaching ESL to adult learners, preferably in a multicultural setting.Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and teaching methodologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.Proficiency in technology use for educational purposes, including online learning platforms.Compensation: $27.50 per hour for teaching time and preparation, totaling 7 hours per week.Application Process: Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and contact information for professional references to
