Job Title: Assistant Building and Grounds / Custodian
Reports To: Building and Grounds Director
Supervises: N/A
Summary: The Alburnett Community School District employs the Assistant Building and Grounds to assist the Building and Grounds Director in maintaining the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, safety, and attractiveness so that full educational use of them may be made at all times, and the district can be proud of its facilities.
Qualifications:
- Possess skills in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, steam boiler/heating, and maintenance work
- Possess a disposition suited to working with the public
- Be physically able to perform the required work, including the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds up stairs
- Possess ability to perform under a flexible and self-directed work schedule
- Clean driving record
Essential Functions:
- Participate in all maintenance and repair work in a timely manner, maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Assist Building and Grounds Director with the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Assist Building and Grounds Director in keeping building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, athletic fields, and play areas in good repair at all times, including snow removal.
- Work with Activities Director, coaches, other staff, and building principal to prepare facilities for all extracurricular activities.
- Promptly reports any needed repairs for the building, grounds, or equipment to the Building and Grounds Director.
- Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Building and Grounds Director.
- Mowing, weed eating, spraying, fertilizing, etc.
- Promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees.
- Be cordial and reflect a positive attitude in working with other employees and the public.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the administration.

Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated annually by the Building and Grounds Director.
