Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes and seasonal specials based on ingredient availability and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage, portioning, and handling techniques are followed at all times.
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food efficiently while maintaining high standards of taste and appearance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods.
- Use knife skills proficiently for chopping, slicing, dicing, and other prep work essential for meal preparation.
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred; familiarity with the food industry will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated culinary experience with a focus on food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling safety practices.
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide can be beneficial for understanding special dietary needs.
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and catering operations is desirable.
