JOB
Under general supervision from the chief horticulturist, plan, monitor & supervise a horticulture program for inmates at your assigned location and other sites (if applicable).
Perform duties relating to the function of horticulture/grounds maintenance activities working with Inmates to support a horticulture/grounds maintenance program & other horticulture special projects as assigned.
Provide supervision & instruction to inmate participants/assigned staff for the care of complex grounds concerning landscape installation, maintenance, vegetable gardening & seasonal color.
Maintain equipment.
Responsible for inventory of chemicals, accountable for tools/equipment.
Responsible for the security of the work area.
Establish and maintain a greenhouse.
Assist with special event support.
Must obtain SC applicator's pesticide license within first year of employment.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.
