Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Workers to provide exceptional support and care to individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, people with disabilities, and those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. This role involves assisting with daily activities, administering medications, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care environments, with a strong commitment to improving clients' quality of life through personalized care.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration following prescribed protocols and documentation via EMR systems
- Support residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, or developmental disabilities through specialized memory and behavior management techniques
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Monitor vital signs and report any health concerns to medical professionals or case managers
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary plans and assist residents during meal times
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of resident living areas to promote health and safety standards
- Document care plans, behavior management strategies, and incident reports accurately
- Support residents' emotional well-being through social interaction and companionship
- Drive residents when necessary for appointments or outings in compliance with safety protocols
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, home care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, medication administration, and EMR systems is advantageous
- Certifications such as First Aid and CPR are highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient care equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills for conflict management and working collaboratively with team members and families
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties if required
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others
- Ability to work flexible hours including shifts that may involve early mornings or evenings as needed
