Janney is an award-winning full-service financial services firm committed to understanding our clients' needs and providing advice beyond investments. We are equally committed to building a diverse workforce and inclusive culture where employees can use their talents to thrive and grow professionally with the firm.
Western Expansion — West Coast (CA, OR, WA) or Southwest (AZ, CO, NV, NM, UT)
At Janney, we believe exceptional advice begins with exceptional people. As a 194-year-old award-winning, full-service wealth management firm, we're committed to being the most trusted partner for our clients — and the employer where talented professionals build meaningful, long-term careers.
As part of a deliberate strategy to expand our footprint, we're looking for an entrepreneurial Regional Director to join the senior leadership team of our Private Client Group. This is a high-visibility executive role: you won't just run a region, you'll build it — establishing Janney's presence in new markets, recruiting the advisor talent to fill it, and standing up the branch leadership bench to sustain it.
If you're motivated by whitespace more than by maintenance — by the challenge of building exceptional teams from scratch, winning top advisor talent to a growing platform, and putting your own stamp on a region — we'd like to talk.
The Opportunity: Build the West
Reporting directly to the President of the Private Client Group, the Regional Director will lead Janney's expansion into new West Coast or Southwest markets, with a mandate to build — not simply oversee. Core priorities include:
- Building the market. Establish Janney's presence in targeted new geographies across the region, market by market.
- Building the advisor base. Recruit and onboard exceptional Financial Advisors to a firm and region on the rise.
- Building the leadership bench. Identify, hire, and develop branch leaders where infrastructure is still being formed.
- Building the growth engine. Accelerate organic growth and advisor productivity as the region scales.
- Building the culture. Instill an advisor-centric, entrepreneurial culture from day one across every new office.
As a member of the PCG senior leadership team, you'll help shape the firm's future while partnering closely with Executive Leadership and corporate partners to execute the initiatives that make this expansion succeed.
What You'll Build
Build High-Performing Teams
- Recruit, inspire, and develop branch leaders into exceptional leaders — in many cases, building that leadership layer from scratch.
- Establish a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that reflects Janney's boutique approach in every new market you enter.
- Build accountability through coaching, performance management, and leadership development.
Drive Growth in New Markets
- Design and execute the strategy to expand Janney's presence in new geographic markets across the designated region.
- Lead regional strategies that increase advisor productivity, client acquisition, asset growth, and financial planning engagement.
- Partner with branch leaders to identify growth opportunities and execute business development initiatives.
- Champion advisor teaming and practice management best practices as new offices come online.
Recruit and Retain Top Talent
- Serve as Janney's lead ambassador in the region for attracting experienced Financial Advisors to a growing platform.
- Build relationships with prospective recruits and tell a compelling story about Janney's differentiated platform and culture.
- Create an environment where advisors choose to build — and keep — their careers alongside you.
Partner Across the Firm
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership, other Regional Directors, Home Office partners, and Field Councils to deliver an exceptional client and advisor experience.
- Balance an aggressive growth agenda with strong risk management and regulatory oversight.
Manage and Scale the Business
- Lead regional planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for a region built for growth.
- Monitor branch performance, profitability, and operational effectiveness as the footprint expands.
- Execute strategic initiatives that improve long-term regional performance.
What Makes You Successful

- Balancing entrepreneurial thinking with disciplined risk management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
- FINRA Series 7, 9, 10, and 66 (or 63 & 65) required; Series 24 preferred
- 15+ years of field leadership experience within a broker-dealer or wealth management organization
- Significant experience leading large, geographically dispersed management teams
- Demonstrated success recruiting, retaining, and developing Financial Advisors — ideally in growth or de novo markets within the West or Southwest footprint.
- Strong understanding of advisor recruiting, organic growth, practice management, compensation models, and competitive market dynamics
- Proven ability to execute growth strategies and build businesses, not just maintain them
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within wealth management
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned region
