Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tier 1 Network Administrator to join our growing IT team.
This is a hybrid position. The role is primarily remote, with on-site visits to clients throughout San Jose, San Francisco, and the surrounding Bay Area approximately 2–4 days per week, depending on client and project needs. When not visiting clients, you will work remotely.
This is a hands-on IT position supporting a wide variety of client environments, including Windows PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, iPads, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, Microsoft 365/Office 365, Gmail/Google Workspace, and other business technology.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in IT support and networking, enjoys troubleshooting, communicates well with clients, and is eager to continue developing their technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 remote and on-site technical support for clients throughout San Jose, San Francisco, and surrounding areas.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, and iPads.
- Deploy and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other networking equipment.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, internet, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN issues.
- Handle common end-user issues involving hardware, software, email, printers, and connectivity.
- Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365/Office 365, Outlook, Gmail, and Google Workspace environments.
- Assist with user account setup, password resets, MFA, email configuration, and basic cloud administration.
- Assist with new computer deployments, workstation replacements, office setups, and client IT projects.
- Perform software updates, patch management, system maintenance, and basic security-related tasks.
- Escalate more complex issues to Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineers when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client systems, network configurations, equipment, and completed work.
- Communicate professionally with clients while working remotely and on-site.
- Travel between client locations as required.
Requirements
- Must live in San Jose or the surrounding Bay Area.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to client locations approximately 2–4 days per week as needed.
- Experience providing Tier 1 IT support, help desk, desktop support, or similar technical support.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi.
- Experience troubleshooting Windows PCs and common business IT issues.
- Familiarity with Macs, Chromebooks, and iPads is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft 365/Office 365 and Gmail/Google Workspace is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader IT team.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and continue developing technical skills.
