Price County is accepting applications for an Economic Support Specialist within the Health and Human Services department. This position provides information about and determines eligibility for categorical aids available through public assistance. Position will interpret and apply federal and state laws and regulations, policy and procedures to individual case circumstances to meet the needs of low-income families. This is a call center position, primarily answering phone calls received from the Northern Income Maintenance Consortium’s call center. The successful candidate will receive full training in the Wisconsin Income Maintenance system and programs. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), regular position with a starting hourly wage of $22.18 (Grade 5) and full benefit package.

Minimum requirements for this position are:
- High School Degree or GED
- Two-year post-secondary degree in business or human services and at least two years’ experience with phone/call center duties and working with the public or any combination of education and/or experience to be considered equivalent.
- Knowledge of human behavior, motivation, crisis intervention, family and group dynamics, money management, interviewing and assessment skills, organizational and inter-personal skills are necessary.
- Must have excellent oral, interviewing and written communication skills.
- Must have ability to understand financial data, make accurate mathematical calculations and interpret data to determine client eligibility for program services.
- Ability to keyboard/type at least 55 wpm with 5 or less errors.
- Proficient in the use of a 10-key calculator with a minimum score of 9,500 keystrokes/hr with at least 95% accuracy.
- Possess valid WI Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
The selection process for this position may include an employment history evaluation, a personal interview, skills testing, and a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening.
