ABOUT THE COMPANY
Ridgway Roof Truss is a family-owned manufacturing company serving the construction industry through the design and production of roof and floor truss systems for just under 70 years. Day-to-day operations such as sales, engineering, estimating, batching, bidding, accounting, and production depend on software tools and data to be efficient and effective.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a developer role that handles a breadth of problems across different tech stacks and departments. You will build and maintain internal tooling across the entire company: both in the office and outside in the plant. This is not a traditional corporate software engineering role, your team will be small and you’ll report directly to the leaders of the company. You’ll own the development lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, implementation, and maintenance.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Collaborate across departments to build and maintain internal tooling.
- Communicate costs, risks, and trade-offs clearly to non-technical people.
- Utilize agentic tools such as Claude Code to understand and build and maintain internal tools.
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE INTERESTING
- Autonomy and Creativity. You’ll lead technical implementations end to end, from design, requirements gathering, and implementation, iteration, and maintainence.
- Direct impact. The tools you build and maintain will be used throughout the office and in the plant with an immediate feedback loop to help you improve.
- Wide exposure. You will learn how a manufacturing business runs and how software is used across its departments.
- Stability. As a family owned business, there aren’t sweeps of layoffs focused on the bottom line as there are in large corporations.
- Efficiency. The work is to-the-point. There’s no layers of bureaucracy or anti-AI culture. We care about results, not paperwork and approvals.

- Strong communicator. You must be able to explain technical risks and trade-offs to non-technical people clearly and without jargon.
- Continuous learner. You will need to expand your skillset into new domains.
