Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing, performing, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of machinery, rolling equipment, and facility systems. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a physically demanding industrial environment while maintaining accurate records and inventory.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical equipment to identify defects, wear, or contamination.
- Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble machines and mechanical components using appropriate tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, hoists, jacks, and chain falls.
- Install, replace, and adjust machine parts, attachments, and controls in accordance with production specifications.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including lubrication, fluid testing, cleaning, and removal of hardened or worn materials.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts and equipment components.
- Collaborate with other team members to repair, relocate, or install machinery and equipment.
- Write and interpret work orders, specifications, and production requirements to determine maintenance and repair needs.
- Maintain rolling equipment user logs and accurate records of repairs, inspections, production, and maintenance activities.
- Inventory, requisition, and manage machine parts, tools, and supplies to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Clean machinery, work areas, and equipment to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Transport parts, tools, and materials between work areas and storage locations.
- Always ensure compliance with safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of working on equipment experience.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced troubleshooting and repair capabilities
- Complex problem solving and sound judgment in maintenance decision-making
- Equipment maintenance, installation, and operation monitoring
- Systems analysis and evaluation to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Technology design and adaptation to meet operational needs
- Welding skills preferred
- Ability to select proper tools and equipment for specific tasks
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
- Occasional overhead lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance
- Vision sufficient to safely perform all essential job duties
Work Environment
- Continuous exposure to outdoor and uncontrolled weather conditions
- Regular exposure to moving machinery, heavy equipment, dust, and moderate to severe noise
