Position Summary
The Fabricator Helper supports the fabrication and welding team in the construction, modification, and repair of metal forms and components used in precast concrete production. This role is hands-on and safety-focused, assisting with form building, cutting, welding preparation, and general shop activities. The Fabricator Helper works closely with experienced Fabricators and Welders to ensure forms are built accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and assembling concrete forms using steel, wood, and other stock materials based on shop drawings and blueprints.
- Support fabrication activities by measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding, and fitting metal components.
- Operate shop equipment such as shears, cutoff saws, drill presses, grinders, and hand tools under supervision.
- Assist with welding tasks, including setup, tacking, and finishing welds, with the expectation of having or developing welding experience.
- Customize and modify forms and parts to accommodate concrete product changes or special project requirements.
- Use oxy-acetylene cutting torch and other thermal cutting tools as required.
- Read and interpret tape measures, basic blueprints, and shop drawings to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Perform material handling duties, including moving steel, forms, and fabricated components safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements and safe equipment operation.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and materials for defects and report concerns to supervision.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to fabrication efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Previous experience in a fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic welding experience required; additional welding certifications are a plus.
- Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints at a basic to intermediate level.
- Proficient in reading a tape measure and performing basic math calculations.
- Experience using hand tools and shop equipment; experience with oxy-acetylene torch required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fabrication and welding skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding work.
- Reliable, safety-minded, and dependable with good attendance

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
