Ross Development is a commercial real estate ownership and development company headquartered in Cortland, Ohio. We own and manage a portfolio of multi-tenant and single-tenant retail centers and apartment communities across Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Florida. We're a small, hands-on team — you'll have direct ownership of your properties and direct access to leadership.
The Role
We're hiring a Property Accountant to own the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial and multifamily assets. Each property is held in its own single-purpose entity, so you'll be producing clean, standalone financials — not just feeding a corporate roll-up.
What You'll Do
- Own month-end close for an assigned portfolio: journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and entity-level financial statements
- Prepare and review CAM/operating expense reconciliations and annual tenant billings for NNN and modified gross leases
- Maintain straight-line rent schedules and tenant improvement amortization
- Process AP and oversee AR, including tenant billing, delinquency reporting, and collections support
- Reconcile tenant ledgers and support lease administration with accurate abstracts and charge setup
- Prepare budgets and variance analysis; support NOI reporting for ownership
- Handle lender reporting, escrow reconciliations, and property tax/insurance tracking
- Coordinate with our CPA on year-end close, workpapers, and tax package preparation
- Assist with acquisition and disposition closing entries and prorations
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of accounting experience; commercial real estate or property management strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of CAM reconciliations, straight-line rent, and lease accounting fundamentals
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, building and auditing schedules)
- Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines with minimal supervision
- Clear written communication — you'll interact with property managers, tenants, brokers, and lenders
Nice to Have
- Experience with Yardi (Breeze, Breeze Premier, or Voyager) or a comparable platform such as MRI or AppFolio
- Multi-state portfolio experience
- Both retail and multifamily exposure
- CPA or CPA candidate
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
