Sip n’ Slide is a unique blend of children’s indoor play space and full-service café. We curate a fun, safe, imaginative environment for children ages 0-8 (and their grown-ups) with climbing structures, imaginative play stations, sensory activities, and a hand-crafted beverage & baked-goods café by local bakers. Position Summary
We are looking for a friendly, energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Play Cafe Associate on a part-time basis. This person will split their time between the café counter (preparing and serving beverages/snacks, interacting with customers) and maintaining the play area (ensuring cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment). You’ll help create a positive experience for families and children, and support the smooth operation of our space.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests with a warm welcome as they arrive; assist with check-in procedures (ensuring waiver sign-in, socks policy, etc.).
- Prepare and serve hand-crafted beverages (coffee, tea, specialty drinks) and baked goods/snacks (from local bakers) in a timely, friendly manner.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle cash/credit transactions, and maintain accurate records of café sales.
- Ensure the café counter is clean, organized and stocked (cups, lids, napkins, condiments, snacks).
- Monitor inventory of café supplies; alert management when items need restocking or ordering.
- Help maintain appealing presentation of food/drinks, display items attractively, and adhere to food safety & hygiene standards.
Play Area Duties:
- Supervise the play space visually—ensuring children are safe, following rules, using grip socks or purchasing socks if needed.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of toys, climbing/playing equipment, tables/chairs, and general play-area surfaces.
- Inspect play structures for safety/maintenance issues, report or record any hazards, broken equipment or needed repairs.
- Assist in resetting/organizing imaginative play stations or creative/sensory activity zones between sessions or as needed.
- Keep the play area tidy: pick up toys, maintain order, ensure pathways are clear, spills are wiped up promptly.
- Assist with opening/closing procedures for the play area (sweeping/mopping floors, sanitizing high-touch surfaces, checking for wear & tear).
Qualifications & Skills
- A friendly, outgoing demeanor; strong customer-service orientation.
- Ability to multitask and shift between café duties and play-area maintenance seamlessly.
- Comfortable working with children and families; responsible for maintaining a safe environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to maintain cleanliness and high standards.
- Basic food & beverage preparation experience preferred, but not required; training will be provided.
- Comfortable with point-of-sale systems and handling cash/credit transactions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to ~25 lbs (e.g., supplies, trays), bend/clean/sanitize.
- Must be available for some weekend shifts (play café hours vary) and flexible scheduling.
- Must adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time role: 10-20 hours
- Shift hours may include mornings, afternoons, and weekends, depending on business needs.
- Pay: $13
- Anticipated start date: December 27th (may have some training days before hand)
