American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics Med/Surg unit requiring Epic charting and Level 1 Trauma center experience.

Inpatient Orthopedics and Medical/Surgical unit within a hospital setting
-
Cares for orthopedic and medical/surgical patient populations
-
Day shift schedule: 7:00AM - 7:30PM
-
12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
-
Rotating holiday coverage required
-
Will float to similar units as needed
-
Utilizes Epic EMR for charting

Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)

BLS certification (American Heart Association)
-
Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience required
-
ASN required; BSN preferred
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Level 1 Trauma center experience required
-
Experience with surgical traction device manipulation and setup
-
Experience with wound appliance management (wound vacs, drains, pouches, urological devices)
-
Skilled in medication management, care transition planning, and delegation
-
Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care based on unit standards and patient/family needs

Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients every shift

Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
-
Coordinate patient care with physician and surgeon partners
-
Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare support staff
-
Set up and manage orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date nursing documentation to support care coordination across the healthcare team
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
-
RTO not to exceed 7 total days within the 13-week contract
