American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position at a major academic Level IV Trauma Center in West Virginia, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and telemetry skills.

Work in a 29-bed Med/Surg Oncology unit within a large, 838-bed short-term acute care hospital
-
Adult patient population includes medical and surgical oncology, palliative care, urology, and telemetry patients
-
Patient ratios are 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7p–7a, weekdays with every other weekend required

36- or 48-hour contract options available

Charting performed in Cerner
-
Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
-
Blocked schedule requests can be accommodated

Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered

Certifications required: BLS, and ONCC or ONS
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Telemetry experience required
-
Proficiency with central line draws, port access, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assist, and Pleurx chest tubes required

Chemotherapy administration experience preferred, but strong candidates without oncology experience will be considered

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Clean RN license required; licenses with hits may be submitted for case-by-case approval

Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital; member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)

Scrub color: Royal Blue or White for RNs

Flu vaccine is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); exemptions are accepted only with documentation of an allergy from an allergist or physician

COVID vaccine is not required

Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler

Holiday RTO requests should be limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays

Free parking is available for travelers

Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; candidates within 75–99 miles may be submitted for facility approval
