Valley City State University is seeking a dynamic and student-focused professional to serve as a Hall Director / Intramurals Coordinator. This blended role supports residential life operations while coordinating intramural programming to enhance student engagement, leadership development, and campus community building.
The successful candidate will create a positive residential environment, promote student involvement, and oversee recreational programming that contributes to student success and retention. This is a live-in position that includes evening, weekend, and on-call hours.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Residence Life (Hall Director – approx. 50%)
Oversee daily operations of an assigned residence hall
Provide supervision, training, and support for Resident Assistants (RAs)
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community
Address student conduct concerns and enforce university policies
Provide crisis response and participate in on-call rotation
Develop and implement residence life programming focused on student development
Maintain accurate records and communication related to student housing
Intramural Programs (Intramurals Coordinator – approx. 50%)
Plan, organize, and oversee intramural sports and recreational activities
Recruit, train, and supervise student officials and program staff
Promote participation and engagement across campus
Coordinate schedules, facilities, and equipment usage
Ensure program compliance with university policies and safety standards
Track participation and assess program effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field
Experience working with college students in residence life, recreation, or student engagement
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in residence life or intramural/recreational programming at the collegiate level
Experience with supervision of student staff
Compensation
$32,600 annually, furnished apartment (value of $7,200+ annually), and meal plan – 10/$300 Meal Plan (value of $4,510+ annually).
