Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care and eyewear services. In this energetic position, you will assist patients with selecting and fitting eyewear, dispense spectacles, and ensure a seamless experience from patient check-in to final product delivery. Your expertise in optics, medical terminology, and customer service will help improve patients’ vision and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, assess their eyewear needs, and provide expert guidance on frame selection and lens options
- Dispense spectacle lenses accurately, perform eyewear fittings, and adjust frames for optimal comfort and fit
- Operate optical laboratory equipment and perform basic lens cutting, edging, and inspection tasks
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems while ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are followed
- Support retail sales activities by engaging customers through excellent service and upselling appropriate optical products
- Conduct basic vision assessments including vital signs when necessary for patient care or senior/child patients
Requirements
- Prior retail optometry or optical laboratory experience is highly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate record keeping
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and state healthcare regulations
- Experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory techniques
- Ability to operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently during retail transactions
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to patient engagement and problem-solving
- Basic math skills for measurements, billing calculations, and inventory management
