POSITION SUMMARY:
The Jack & Roll Rigger is responsible for safely moving, positioning, lifting, and securing heavy equipment and structural components using hydraulic jacking systems, rollers, skates, cribbing, rigging gear, and related equipment. This position supports heavy haul, machinery moving, crane, and specialized transport operations while ensuring compliance with company safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate has experience with rigging practices, load securement, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment movement in industrial, commercial, and construction environments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Perform jack and roll operations involving heavy equipment, machinery, and structural components.
· Safely operate hydraulic jacks, toe jacks, gantries, rollers, skates, chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, and related rigging equipment.
· Assist with loading, unloading, positioning, leveling, and relocating heavy equipment and materials.
· Assemble, inspect, and maintain rigging gear, shackles, slings, chains, spreader bars, and lifting devices.
· Read and interpret lift plans, load charts, drawings, equipment manuals, and jobsite instructions.
· Determine proper rigging methods and load securement techniques based on weight, center of gravity, and site conditions.
· Perform pre-job inspections of equipment, tools, and work areas to identify hazards and ensure safe operation.
· Build cribbing and support structures using proper materials and techniques.
· Communicate effectively with crane operators, truck drivers, supervisors, and other crew members during lifting and moving operations.
· Follow all applicable OSHA, DOT, company, and customer safety procedures.
· Participate in job safety analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and site-specific safety meetings.
· Maintain accurate equipment inspection records and report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately.
· Assist with general labor, site preparation, housekeeping, and other field operations as needed.
· Travel to customer jobsites as required.
· Other duties as assigned by the Jack & Roll Foreman or Site Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Previous experience in rigging, machinery moving, heavy haul, crane support, millwright work, construction, or industrial maintenance preferred.
· Working knowledge of rigging practices, load calculations, and safe lifting procedures.
· Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic equipment, and rigging devices.
· Ability to read and understand technical documents, safety procedures, and equipment manuals.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and travel assignments as needed.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:
· NCCCO Rigger Certification
· NCCCO Signalperson Certification
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
· First Aid/CPR Certification
· Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly, with heavier weight assisted by equipment or team lifting.
· Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and uneven terrain.
· Ability to work at heights and around heavy equipment safely.
· Visual and auditory ability sufficient to identify hazards and communicate effectively on active jobsites.
