This position will be instructing in-person within the McHenry County Correctional Facility, in the Summer 2026 semester. Working schedule is Mondays from 8:30am - 10:30am and Wednesdays from 6pm - 8pm, and will be a total of four contact hours.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Instruct students in either ABE, ASE, HSE, Bridge, or ICAPS.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (e.g., English, TESOL, linguistics, mathematics, reading)

One year teaching or training experience preferably with adult learners

Familiarity with computer technology and Microsoft Office including Outlook

Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles

Upon Arrival to the facility, you'll check-in with the Corrections Officer

Electronics and personal belongings are left in a locked locker prior to going through security
Desired Qualifications:-
Master’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, ESL, Reading, Math or Adult Education or related field

Certification in Adult Education, TESOL, K-12, or Special Education

Three years of experience teaching adults in ABE or ASE Experience using computer programs (e.g. DAISI, Colleague, I-Pathways, BurlingtonEnglish, Aztec, and EssentialEd)

Experience teaching a diverse student population and adult students

Experience teaching in a correctional facility
