Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator. The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating excavators and loaders on residential construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and safely. This role requires mechanical knowledge and experience of mini to mid size excavators up to 30 tons on rocky and sloped sites. The candidate must have experience excavating with precision to specified elevations with a rotary laser for basement footers, walls, utility trenches, and terraced retaining walls. The location has rock sub strata requiring ripping, hammering, and placing large stones for retaining walls. This is a team lead position that requires interpersonal skills, fluent in English, and exceptional operating knowledge and safety. A bank account will be required as payment will be made after Friday's shift, by check, for hours worked Friday thru Thursday. This is an independent contractor position where contractor provides their own benefits and insurance. Providing a copy of a valid driver's license, signing an independent contractor agreement, and providing a W9 will be required.
Responsibilities
- Correctly configure CAT 308 EX for hydraulic hammer
- Operate hammer correctly to prevent its damage
- Excavate and prepare sub grade for retaining walls
- Place boulders for boulder walls
- Train operators in safe and efficient operation of the heavy equipment
- Operate quick release to swap out bucket and hydraulic hammer on Cat 308EX
- Read and adhere to grade stakes and site plan.
- Assist in measuring grade and setting grade stakes with Topcon
- Daily maintenance checks, fuel up, grease up every morning
- Daily sweep and clean at the end of shift
- Careful Loading of trucks with rock
- Collaborate with site supervisors and team members to complete projects according to specifications and timelines.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Construction site experience focusing on residential development projects.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
