A CDL Instructor is responsible for teaching students the knowledge and skills
necessary to obtain a CDL and drive commercial vehicles safely and efficiently. The
instructor provides both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training to
individuals seeking to become professional drivers. The role involves educating
students on traffic laws, safety regulations, vehicle operation, and defensive driving
techniques. The ideal candidate MUST have a minimum of two (2) years of
commercial driving experience (per Department of Transportation regulations), a
valid CDL, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups of
students. A CDL Instructor should also be patient, safety-conscious, and dedicated to
fostering a learning environment that promotes professional driving practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A license.
- Minimum of 2 consecutive years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience with a solid work history. Gaps in employment may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate consistent, stable driving experience.
- Must provide a Motor Vehicle Report and must be accepted by the school’s auto liability insurance company.
- Possess a High School Diploma, or its equivalent, or higher.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Teaching experience in any field is preferred but not required.
- Pass a DOT physical and drug screening administered by TGA Truck Driving School’s contracted physician.
- On-the-job training will be conducted at our Downey, CA campus.
Pay: $32.00 per hour
