Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal service in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently during food production and meal assembly
- Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean working environment
- Support dietary department tasks such as inventory management, food handling, and proper storage procedures
- Work closely with nursing staff to accommodate special diets for residents with specific health needs
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or moving supplies to prevent injury
- Maintain accurate documentation related to food service activities, including sanitation logs and meal records
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and safe lifting practices
- Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced environment while managing time effectively
- Excellent manual handling skills for food preparation and equipment operation
- Familiarity with adhering to dietary requirements for geriatric or special-needs populations
- Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and supporting resident needs
- Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and meal planning
- Knowledge of workplace safety protocols including PPE use and manual handling techniques
- Experience with culinary tasks such as food production, serving, and meal assembly is preferred.
