Medpak Solutions will begin recruiting for a Manufacturing Supervisor — Production & Packaging to provide daily leadership, discipline, and accountability on the production floor.
This position will replace the missing line-leader function while adding responsibility for employee supervision, production execution, Markov transactions, production reporting, process compliance, and coordination between Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Compounding, and Maintenance.
The position will also provide a clear career path toward becoming Medpak’s future Production Manager and, as the company continues to grow, potentially Plant Manager.
Why We Need This Role
Our current manufacturing operation consists of:
- One primary filling and packaging line.
- One compounder managing batching.
- One mechanic supporting equipment and operations.
- A small team of production associates.
- Quality support on the floor.
At our current size, we do not need a traditional Production Manager or Plant Manager responsible for several lines, shifts, supervisors, and departments.
However, we need one person who is clearly accountable for what happens on the production floor every day.
Recent challenges have included labeling errors, mismatched lot information, missing labels, incomplete production orders, inconsistent staging, rework, and limited visibility into actual daily production output.
These issues are not primarily caused by the complexity of the operation. They are caused by the absence of consistent floor leadership, process enforcement, employee accountability, and production reporting.
Why This Should Initially Be a Supervisor
The title Manufacturing Supervisor accurately reflects the current size and complexity of Medpak’s operation.
The position will be one level above a traditional line leader and one level below a Production Manager.
This allows Medpak to combine two immediate needs:
- Replace the former line-leader responsibilities.
- Establish daily management and accountability for the entire production floor.
The Manufacturing Supervisor will be expected to work directly on the floor, supervise associates, support line execution when necessary, use Markov, enforce procedures, and report production performance.
This is not intended to be an administrative or office-based management position.
Career Growth Opportunity
This position is intended to grow with Medpak.
The Manufacturing Supervisor will have the opportunity to advance to Production Manager when the operation expands and the responsibilities justify a broader management position.
The expected progression is:
Stage 1: Manufacturing Supervisor
Current operation:
- One filling and packaging line.
- One shift.
- Small production team.
- Direct supervision of production associates.
- Daily coordination with the compounder, mechanic, Quality, and Supply Chain.
The supervisor is expected to be highly involved in daily floor execution.
Stage 2: Production Manager
The position may advance to Production Manager when Medpak operates:
- Two active production lines.
- A larger production workforce.
- Multiple line leaders or team leads.
- Greater production volume and scheduling complexity.
- Increased batching and packaging coordination.
- More formal labor, capacity, productivity, and performance management.
At this stage, the Production Manager would move from personally directing one line to managing the overall production department through line leaders and supervisors.
Stage 3: Plant Manager
As Medpak continues to scale, the individual may have the opportunity to advance to Plant Manager if the role expands to include broader facility responsibility, such as:
- Multiple production lines and shifts.
- Production and compounding departments.
- Maintenance coordination.
- Warehouse and material movement.
- Staffing and capacity planning.
- Plant-wide productivity.
- Safety and facility performance.
- Departmental budgets and cost control.
- Cross-functional plant execution.
A Plant Manager position would only be created when the size, structure, and complexity of the business justify that level of responsibility.
Promotion Criteria
Advancement will not be based only on tenure or the addition of a second line.
The individual must demonstrate the ability to:
- Consistently achieve the production schedule.
- Build a disciplined and accountable production team.
- Develop capable line leaders.
- Maintain accurate Markov transactions.
- Reduce errors, rework, downtime, and missed production.
- Improve labor productivity and changeover performance.
- Implement and sustain production procedures.
- Communicate clearly with Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, and Management.
- Manage increased production complexity without requiring daily intervention from the CEO.
- Demonstrate readiness for broader departmental and plant leadership.
This creates a genuine growth opportunity while ensuring that promotions are earned through measurable performance.
Role Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Supervisor will own the daily execution of the production schedule provided by Supply Chain.
Primary responsibilities will include:

- Ensuring staging and line-clearance requirements are followed.
- Supervising filling, labeling, coding, assembly, and packaging.
- Monitoring output throughout the day.
- Reporting plan versus actual production.
- Ensuring accurate Markov transactions and production-order closure.
- Preventing labeling, lot-code, and documentation errors.
- Managing employee attendance, training, performance, and accountability.
- Coordinating equipment priorities with the mechanic.
- Coordinating inspections and releases with Quality.
- Monitoring compounding status and its impact on production.
- Escalating problems quickly and providing recovery plans.
