We are looking to add a Surgical assistant to our Yakima team. Willing to train a dental assistant/ surgery technician/medical assistant with experience. Candidates must be willing to obtain DAANCE certification after 6 months of employment. The duties include set up and break down of surgical suites, assisting surgeon during surgeries and recovery of patient from anesthesia, sterilization of instruments, chart notes, follow up calls with patients and pre-surgical preparation of patients for surgery. Cross training is required as our team assists wherever needed to include patient care coordinator and Check in/out. Yakima Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is part of our CWOFS team that has locations in Wenatchee, Ellensburg, and Moses Lake.
Surgical Assistants are responsible for clinical and technical procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist:
- Escort patients to and from treatment rooms and prep them for care by the doctor.
- Review medical history, progress from the previous visit, vital signs, and provide patient education.
- Record keeping and charting in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record.
- Use of 3D cone beam scan and intraoral scanner.
- Assist doctor in surgery (passes instruments, aspirates intra-oral fluids, mixes materials and medicaments during examinations or treatment).
- Prepares, cleans, and restocks operatories.
- Sterilization of all instruments.
- Scheduling patients, answering phones, and front office duties as needed.
- Takes digital impressions for diagnostic and opposing models.
Candidate must speak fluent English. Candidates who are bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
