Port Of Brooks are seeking a license and insured 6 pack Captain. We need a dynamic and experienced Tour Boat Captain to lead engaging water excursions and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all passengers. As the captain, you will be responsible for navigating vessels with precision, managing crew operations, and maintaining the highest standards of maritime safety. Your leadership will help create memorable adventures while adhering to all safety regulations and industry best practices. Duties
- Safely operate and navigate tour vessels using advanced marine navigation systems and vessel management techniques.
- Lead crew members effectively, managing team communication and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations onboard.
- Conduct pre-departure safety checks, including vessel maintenance, rigging inspections, and manual handling of water transportation equipment.
- Enforce maritime safety procedures in compliance with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee vessel handling during docking, anchoring, and maneuvering in various water conditions, utilizing heavy lifting and mechanical knowledge as needed.
- Manage crew scheduling, training, and performance to foster a cohesive team environment.
- Maintain detailed logs of vessel operations, safety inspections, and incident reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and repairs to uphold water transportation equipment standards.
- Communicate clearly with passengers regarding safety instructions and tour information while ensuring their comfort throughout the trip.
Experience
- Proven experience operating boats or ships within the water transportation industry, with a strong understanding of marine navigation systems and vessel management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively as a ship supervisor or captain in maritime settings.
- Familiarity with USCG regulations governing watercraft operation and safety procedures.
- Hands-on experience with vessel maintenance, rigging, heavy lifting, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Background in maritime piloting or navigation, ideally with military or similar disciplined training that emphasizes safety protocols and crew management.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with crew members and ensuring passenger safety.
- Knowledge of water transportation equipment maintenance routines and manual handling techniques necessary for vessel upkeep.
