American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity PCU position requiring PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years and a valid NY RN license.

Mixed-acuity unit serving PCU, MS Telemetry, and general medical/surgical patients
-
Patient population includes surgical pre/post-op (ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, ortho surgery), overflow medical diagnosis patients, and rare pediatric cases (travelers not assigned to pediatric patients unless experienced)

Patient ratios are acuity-adjusted: 1:3–5 on days and weekends, 1:3–6 on nights

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to sister units: West 2, West 3, and Observation

EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Communication framework: SBAR

Active NY RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Preferred certifications: PALS, TCAR

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

PCU, IMC, or step-down/DOU experience within the last 3 years required

Required clinical skills include: telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols and drip titration, cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, thrombolytic agents, central line and PICC line care, port access, blood product administration, phlebotomy, feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), tracheostomy management, peripheral nerve block catheters, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC), ABG interpretation, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

13-week contract

Unit orientation is 12 hours

Any solid color scrubs are acceptable

RTO (time off) is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract

All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
