Our legal practice is seeking to hire an experienced Legal Assistant/Receptionist or Paralegal to join our team who can keep cases organized and deadlines on track. You will work directly with the attorney to manage daily operations, document flow, and communications. This role ensures that legal matters progress smoothly and efficiently.
Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
Provide customer service by answering phone calls, responding to emails and live chats, and greeting clients.
Handle client intake and initial communications
Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, courts, and third parties
Manage calendars, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and interviews
Track deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements
Maintain and organize legal files, both physical and digital
Assist with e-filing documents through court systems
Prepare and format legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and correspondence
Draft legal documents for attorney review
Support trial preparation, including assembling exhibits and case materials
Legal Assistant Requirements:
0–1 year of administrative or office experience
Basic understanding of legal terminology is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook
Strong attention to detail in document preparation and handling
Willingness to learn legal processes and systems
Good written and verbal communication skills
High school diploma or equivalent required
Paralegal Responsibilities:
Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.
Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper and electronic filing system.
Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details.
Filing pleadings with the court clerks.
Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents.
Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases.
Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas, and scheduling of court reporters.
Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings.
Paralegal Requirements:
Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies, or verifiable work experience equivalent preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.
Additional information:
We provide full employer paid dental/medical/vision through BCBS. Starting rate $16.50 phr (no deduction for benefits) forty hours per week, sick pay plus paid holiday/vacation days, DOE.
Work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
