Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Major duties and responsibilities include; but are not limited to:
- Local delivery within the region on a daily basis delivering product as dispatched.
- Transport loaded containers from the rail yard to our company’s location and return the empty container to ending destination. This requires hooking up and attaching chassis to truck, open doors to container to check and ensure load is secure and has not shifted.
- Maintain transportation records, monitor safety measures, and maintain low (CSA) BASIC scores.
- Cargo Securement: ensure the safety of the load at all times, loading and unloading of equipment, and properly securing, strapping and tarpingof the load.
- Knowledge and use predominately of Flatbed Trailer, some Van and Conestoga
- Perform DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspection of tractor and trailer.
- Follow company and DOT standards and requirements for driving trucks requiring Class “A” CDL driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift over 50 pounds (push/pull), no limitations to climbing in and out of the tractor and/or on and off of a trailer or load, squatting/crouching to handle and position equipment, climbing ladder, and maintaining proper safety standards.
- Must be able to frequently reach for equipment above, at, and below the waist level.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age.
- You must be familiar with, meet, and abide by all requirements under U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations: 49 C.F.R. §40, §382, §383, §387, §390-399.
- You must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language to respond to official inquires and to make entries on reports and records.
- You must have one (1) year of recent verifiable experience driving a tractor-trailer on an over-the-road basis or by reason of experience, training, or both, safely operate the type of commercial vehicle he/she will drive.
- You are physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with DOT Physical Qualification and Examinations.
- You must have a current valid Class “A” commercial motor vehicle operator’s license issued only by one State or jurisdiction.
