Join our dynamic team as a Resident Inspector - (PE Licensed is a must), to support a premier luxury development project in Puerto Rico!!
Theis a key professional role with responsibility for providing construction inspection and regulatory oversight throughout the project and supporting the required certifications through final project.
The ideal candidate must be an active licensed Professional Engineer PE in Puerto Rico qualified and willing to serve in the required Resident Inspector capacity and execute the applicable professional certifications and documentation required for final permitting and occupancy approvals.
The ideal candidate will have significant construction inspection experience and demonstrated experience with luxury residential, resort, hospitality, condominium, or other high-end construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the project’s Resident Engineer / Resident Inspector and perform the inspection responsibilities required under applicable Puerto Rico regulations.
- Provide continuous professional oversight of construction activities within the assigned scope.
- Verify construction compliance with approved plans, specifications, permits, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and document field inspections of critical construction activities, materials, installations, and workmanship.
- Maintain the inspection records and supporting documentation required throughout construction.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies and corrective actions through final resolution.
- Review testing, inspection documentation, and contractor QA/QC activities.
- Coordinate inspection and compliance matter with design professionals, contractors, consultants, permitting agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain field observation reports, inspection reports, photographic documentation, deficiency logs, and regulatory records.
- Monitor construction progress and verify completion of applicable work.
- Support regulatory inspections and project close-out requirements.
- Review and verify documentation required for final project certification.
- Prepare, execute, sign, and/or certify applicable professional documents within the PE’s authorized scope of practice as required for project close-out and regulatory approvals.
- Support the preparation and submission of documentation required to obtain applicable final use and occupancy approvals.
- Participate in final inspections, punch-list activities, testing, commissioning, and close-out.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Puerto Rico – REQUIRED.
- Must be qualified and willing to serve as Resident Inspector and assume the corresponding professional responsibilities for required inspections and certifications.
- Must be willing and legally authorized to sign and certify applicable project documentation within the professional’s authorized scope of practice.
- Previous experience performing Resident Inspector, construction inspection, or comparable professional engineering functions.
- Strong knowledge of Puerto Rico construction permitting, inspection, certification, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, permits, and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, QA/QC, testing, and inspection procedures.
- Excellent documentation and technical reporting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and professional judgment.
- Ability to independently identify and escalate construction or compliance issues.
- Full professional fluency in English and Spanish both verbal and written.
Preferred Experience:
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Luxury residential construction
- Luxury hotels and resorts
- High-end condominiums
- Hospitality developments
- High-end architectural finishes
- Multi-phase developments
- Complex construction inspection and project close-out
- Resident Inspector certifications and final occupancy/permitting processes in Puerto Rico
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is an experienced PE who understands that this position carries professional responsibility beyond routine field inspection.
The selected professional must be capable of maintaining the documentation and inspection records necessary throughout construction and be prepared to professionally certify applicable work and documentation within their authorized scope of practice at project completion.
Exceptional technical judgment, integrity, attention to detail, and familiarity with Puerto Rico’s construction inspection and permitting requirements are essential for this position.
Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
