Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our outpatient private practice. This role is well-suited for clinicians who are confident in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy within an outpatient setting.
This is a hybrid position, primarily tele-health, with one required in-person day per week at our Tustin office.
The position will begin part-time (2–3 days per week) and transition to full-time as the caseload builds. Our expectation is that clinicians reach a minimum of 32 hours per week within 6–9 months, based on clinic demand and provider availability.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care and Documentation
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adults.
- Treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and related psychiatric conditions.
- Provide evidence-based medication management and psychotherapy.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the EMR.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all patient privacy regulations.
Collaboration and Professional Practice
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, PMHNPs, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in clinical consultation as appropriate.
- Adhere to ethical prescribing standards and clinical practice guidelines.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and practice development.
Patient Education and Communication
- Educate patients on diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and staff.
Supervision and Support
- Medical oversight provided through our collaborating psychiatrist.
- Ongoing clinical collaboration with experienced PMHNP leadership.
- Supportive environment that allows for high-quality, independent clinical practice.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of one year of post-graduate psychiatric experience as a PMHNP (required).
- Experience treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD, with strong experience in psychotherapy required.
Education and Licensure
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Active, unrestricted California RN, NP, and Furnishing License.
- ANCC PMHNP-BC certification.
- Active California DEA registration.
- Must not have opted out of Medicare.
Business and Credentialing
- Must have or be willing to establish a California Professional Nursing Corporation within 30 days of hire.
- Prior insurance credentialing experience preferred (credentialing support provided).
Schedule and Work Setting
- Monday through Friday only.
- No weekends.
- Hybrid tele-health with one required in-person day per week.
- Outpatient private practice setting.
Compensation and Benefits
- Providers are compensated on a per-visit basis. Compensation ranges from approximately $110–$195 per hour equivalent, depending on productivity and appointment volume. Providers are paid for each completed follow-up visit and psychiatric evaluation according to the established compensation schedule.
