Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR systems.
- Support medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration under supervision, and basic life support (CPR) when needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Use proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts to ensure safe patient transfers and prevent injury.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
- Follow infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and infectious disease care standards, to uphold safety standards across all environments.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working with geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s care experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic nursing procedures including vital signs measurement.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Strong caregiving communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient service.
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals—including ICU or trauma centers—and home & community care settings is advantageous.
