Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Location: Plymouth, CT
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time and Per Diem– All Shifts
Current Shift Need: All Shifts
Reports to: RN or LPN
Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) delivers quality patient care under nursing supervision, assisting with daily activities, monitoring conditions, and supporting a clean, safe environment. Reports to the charge nurse, nursing staff, and facility administration.
Current need is 3p-11p shift for 32 hours and Per Diem, 11p-7a shift for 32 hours, 16 hours and 8 hrs. every other weekend or every weekend 16 hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and toileting.
- Consistently documents in PCC all care rendered.
- Take and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
- Help patients with mobility including turning, repositioning, and transferring between beds and wheelchairs.
- Monitor patient health and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
- Maintain patient hygiene and ensure comfort.
- Keep patient rooms clean, stocked, and organized.
- Transport patients and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and infection control procedures.
- Ability and willingness to work under close supervision at all times.
- Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the facility and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Treat residents with dignity and respect
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
- Current CNA certification in Connecticut.
- Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification (preferred or required depending on employer).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift or move patients as needed.
- Participate in educational programs: Fire drills, in-services and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Preferred Qualities:
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable.
- Ability to work in a team and handle stressful situations.
- Detail-oriented and observant.
- Prior experience in a healthcare facility (preferred but not required).
